Jason has also worked as a professional writer, and his scholarly article about Yellowstone National Park's 1988 fires is used extensively as a research and learning resource. The article, which originally earned the top grade for an undergraduate ecology course presentation, provides a comprehensive look at how Yellowstone National Park's fires of 1988 were integral in restoring the health of its unique ecosystem and why the $100 million firefighting effort--the largest in American history--was a controversial one.

Jason graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in communication from Freed-Hardeman University (Henderson, Tennessee) in 1998.
